Not Sure Which Way to Turn!

"The way to nowhere will lead you nowhere"

I often sit back and ask myself, how did I end up here? because there was a point in my life I didn’t know where I was going, where I wanted to go or even how I would get there.

So, on this day today as I sit here and go back down that road in memory of how far I've come, I can only give glory to where it belongs and that is to God. You see without God saving me from continuing to go down the same road, having the same thoughts, constantly doing the same things and following that same road of what felt like nowhere. I say nowhere because there has been plenty of times throughout my life that I have felt like I often ended up right where I started. It wasn’t until one day, well actually several days, well let’s just say several times that I began to look at my life differently and wonder how I could change things and how I could become a better me. Honestly as I began to wonder these things or even ask myself this question I than began to realize I didn’t know which way I should turn. There's so many decisions and directions in life how can we possibly know all on my own which way is the right way to go or even how suddenly to stop what we've been doing and choose a new way.

Not being sure which way to turn overtime I learned to turn to God.

Didn’t know what to do, so I just began to pray!

I felt anxious, so I began to pray!

I felt worried, so I began to pray!

I felt confused, so I began to pray!

I felt lonely in my thoughts, like no one would understand even if I tried to explain what I felt and what I was trying to do. So, I began to talk to myself lol! It went something like this, Dear self I need to change. After talking to myself on many different occasions through writing I began to change that conversation to Dear God.

This is how my many conversations (prayers) to God began. You see I never knew me talking to God was what prayer was. So, in the beginning I would just rabble on and on and on. God was probably like look at my child talking and talking. But day after day I just continued the conversation.

Did change start to happen I don’t know but I know what did happen I became dependent on those conversations with God. I began to pour out everything on my heart and then God began to pour his love into me, and I began to listen. Little by little something was taking place on the inside maybe not on the outside but on the inside, something was taking place.

For every way I was feeling, for every cry, tear, trial and situation I brought to God in our conversation he would lead me to a scripture that gave me a comfort and peace like no other. This took time though so even if it was only one word or one scripture God gave me, I would read it and read it. Sometimes write it over and over day after day. There was so much I wanted to know, so much I wanted to do but God just took his time with me, and I continued to allow him to. There were so many questions of why this is happening, and nothing was happening, and I didn't see anything in my life changing. But often times we may not notice that things are actually changing because change is happening on the inside of us. There were many times that I would mess up throughout my day, do something wrong, say something wrong, think a wrong thought but I still kept going back to that conversation with God. Dear God, I messed up today, Dear God I don’t know what to do, Dear God when will this change, Dear God I'm frustrated, Dear God I need your help, Dear God please forgive me. Day after day journal entry after journal entry, tear after tear, trial after trial, God got me through it, some days I wanted to scream and some days I did. When I didn’t know where to go God allowed me to know that he was near.

Not sure which way to turn, turn to God.

Don’t know what to do? Pray

Feeling anxious? Pray

Feeling Worried? Pray

Feeling Confused? Pray

Feeling like you have no one to talk to? Talk to God (Pray)

What do I pray? Well, what is it that is troubling you, talk to God about that? He is listening.

Anxious?

Philippians 4:6

Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.

Worried?

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Confused?

Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.

Feeling like you have no one to talk to? Talk to God, to talk to God is prayer.

Psalm 145:18

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

God hears you; he sees you and knows exactly what you need.
